COFFEE IN THE RAIN
Human scaled silhouette using approximately my body weight (90kg) in ground and used Mexican coffee.
Photographic documentation of the dissolution of the sculpture.
Dealing with the political and capitalism, this dissolving sculpture represents all the human effort that is put into the Mexican coffee industry,
and how easily and quickly it is used and discarded. The human labor force is entirely dismissed and forgotten in this process, it dissolves in a way that is natural to our capitalistic society; just like coffee in the rain.

MEDICAL SUGAR SKULL
Human shaped skull made from expired psychiatric pills. This piece deals with society’s general fear of the psychiatric industry, along with the “taboo of the unspoken” attached to it. I am obviously referencing Demian Hirst’s skull "For The Love of God", to make the statement that I also “work with what I have” in this case, expired psychiatric pills. The appeal of the sculpture plays on the resemblance with sugar skulls of Mexican culture, making it visually appealing and referencing to candy, as if psychiatry was something “sweet” and playful. Pills to keep death away, pills that will kill us anyway.
MED-HIVE
The organic shape resulting from the saturation of the material in this artwork resembles a beehive, the fact that the “cocoons” are empty may raise distress; whatever creature nested in there is now born and free. Bees are productive creatures and play a crucial role in our ecosystem, even if most people would avoid any contact with them.
The meds are born, but are they productive and useful, or harmful?
This organic cluster of "cocoons"
